As we continue with our "People of Chex" series we introduce you to Derek Oliver. Derek is an Independent Sales Manager and has been with Chex for just over a year. Let's learn a little more about Derek:

What is your favorite part about working for Chex?

I love working directly with the buyers in my accounts to help add exciting new products to their stores. When you can both share the same success, its incredibly rewarding.

What's one of the biggest lessons you've learned while working at Chex?

Never assume. When you enter situations with a preconceived notion of what the outcome will be, you limit your results. Entering every situation with an open mind tends to bring about your biggest wins.

What is your favorite product Chex carries?

Hot Pot Queen Crunchy Garlic Chili Crisp!

What is one professional achievement you are most proud of?

In my previous role as a buyer, I was lucky enough to be named Chex's buyer of the year. To be able to take that experience as a customer and bring it to my current role has been invaluable.

Share a fun fact!

I'm a huge live music fan. I've been lucky enough to travel the country experiencing some incredible venues like Red Rocks, The Gorge Amphitheatre, and The Ryman Auditorium. While I've slowed down over the years, in 2018 I even topped out at 58 shows attended for the year.
